D300, 500mm f/4, travel pillow on car window
ISO 320, 1/640 sec at f/5.6
Photo taken June 12, 2010 about 30 minutes after sunrise at Ft. Pickens National Seashore. Cropped to 40% of full frame. Sharpening and other minor adjustments using LR3, CS5 and Noise Ninja.
The low angle is possible from the car because the bird is on a small sand dune. Comments and suggestions most welcome.

I like this a lot. It held up well to the crop. Very nice soft light; nice natural color and setting.

Also, a great bird to find in Florida. I never got to see one anywhere on the east coast and had to wait until I moved to AZ.

Dave, The light, pose and setting are very special here I think. Really enjoyed the larger version since I expected significantly reduced IQ with that crop (which didn't happen). A very strong image IMO.

Beautiful, David. Great that you had that low angle. Also, you managed the DOF extremely well. Color, detail and pose are all very attractive. :toast:

Another species I missed. Guess I'll just have to come back. I like the OOF beach grass.

David,

The light in this image is awesome. Love the pose, the soft natural colors and the setting. Getting up early sure pays off, doesn't it?
