Graceful aging together

by Gary Yeoh

The lotus season has about another month to run. There are many mature lotus pods around and I like how these two stick together...till the end.

D90 300mmF4 1/160 F11 iso400 HH. Rather harsh lighting. I have dampened the highlights a bit on the left lotus but may still be a bit hot. Thanks for looking and C&C appreciated.

Gary, the highlights don't stand out to bad to me, looks like you handled the harsh light very well. Interesting plants, I havn't seen these before. I like the framing at the top of the photo with the curved leaf. Well captured.

Like John, I've never seen this before....very interesting. I'ld try and tone down the upper left edge of the pod on the left, otherwise looks great.

The highlights look fine to me Gary. I love your composition and the plants themselves are very interesting to me. Very fine work for my tastes.

Gary, 'interesting' is the word of the day....this is unusual to my eye. Good job composing and framing. You've handled the hot lighting well. Yeah, just a bit burned in ulc...but not bad. Ken S

Gary, I like how the leaf curves around the left pod. Nice to see someone recognize the beauty in a past prime subject. Your vision is nicely captured with the one pod just leaning on the other. I like the diagonal omposition. :toast:

What interesting plants. Could be moon craters or some undersea monster pods. Good work on the colors and tonality, Gary.

My kind of photo. I love unusual shapes, that people see everyday and ignore.

as already noted, love the curved leaf at the top. But, what I like most is the range and depth ot colors plus the gorgeous textures. You can really see how much "plumper" the newer, green pod is and how brittle, but still sturdy the old one is.

Great job!

A finely crafted composition Gary. I like how the "clam shell" pad above frames the beautiful colors of the lotus pods. This image is loaded with pleasing visual elements.

This is such a nice image that I would spend a bit more time warming up the hot spot. Wonderful image. :toast:

This is great, it almost has a 3D look to it, especially the pod on the right.
