OX-EYE DAISY

Here's a photo I'm not quite sure about. I photographed a group of these wildflowers but I was not too pleased with them when I started converting them from RAW to JPEG. Out of bordem I started increasing and decreasing the shadow bar and this caught my eye. I like the way the BG darkened down while the white petals still mantained their brightness. Any thoughts? I kind of like the dark moody feel yet I've had this resized for NPN for about two months but hesitant to post. What the heck, my membership's paid up, what am I out?

Manual exposure with tripod. 1/160 sec, F6.3, ISO 100, Canon 100 mm macro, shadow bar adjusted down during conversion.

Thanks for looking and all C&C welcomed.

Real nice in my opinion John, and I especially like the way the center Daisy stands out among the rest, beautifully composed, and love the BG. Well done.

Interesting effect. I like that you can see the stem on the center flower that is the main subject and all the rest seem to float in space.

Very nice, high-contrast image, John. I think the dead centre placement of the main flower, which can look wrong, works well here with the multiple soft focus echoes. My only problem re the issue you mention is the lack of light on the stem of the main flower.

John, if this is what we get to look at when you hold back, HOLD BACK man, BUT do post! Lovely capture and presentation. Can you pop in one or two oof blooms in the empty space above the main subject just to fill in? Only kidding! SWEET. :toast:

I really like the separation of the daisies from the BG....seem to be floating. The central placement of the sharp flower works well. Nice work.

John: I think this is excellent. The DOF/POF makes the shot and the center position of the main subject works really well for me in this comp. My only suggestion to make this perfect would be to get rid of the two dark spots on the center of the flower in the URC and the one on the petal of the bloom just above it. Good work.>=))>

John:
Really like you selective focus here to isolate the central bloom. The darken bg is a good contrast to show off the white flowers. It amazing how minor tweaks can alter the mood of the image. :toast:
