State Animal: American Buffalo
State Song: "Home on the Range"
Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam
And the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

Home, home on the range
Where the deer and the antelope play
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day

This photo was taken Memorial Day weekend, at Big Basin NNL in southwest Kansas. The sun was low in the sky, and my 6 yr old daughter was with me. Her excitement just added to the total experience.

Rob, I don't think you will hear many discouraging words about this photo either.

Pretty light that says "sunset". Delightful scene of cows and calves in good grass. Fits the theme to a T. :toast:

Love the light Rob, seeing the calves and the setting. It looks like the Buffalo are heading home.

Love the warm light on this scene, Rob. A great composition that shows not all of Kansas is flat as a pancake! You had good timing to get a few calves in the herd. That's pretty cool.

It would be nice I think, if the Bison were facing the camera or at least broadside, but I guess you can't get everthing. Otherwise, nice light on a great Kansas icon in a geat location.

Very nice "live" image. But I'd suggest to try long format presentation by cropping the top part to give more attention to the buffalos; the main subject of this image. Well done Rob. :toast:
