Bald Eagle
Haliaeetus leucocephalus

I took this image this past winter in Utah, this is a 4 year old Bald Eagle. This coming winter it will be in adult plumage.

For me an Eagle represents freedom, power and courage.

D200, f6.3, 1/1000, ISO 200, 200-400mm VR at 280mm, 68% of original image, shot in aperture priority, auto WB, 0 EV comp. Wild bird, not baited. Larger image provided for evaluation of sharpness & detail.

As always, I sincerely appreciate your comments & critiques. Thanks for looking.

Wasn't this the bird that was covered by frost? That picture still haunts me. The bird looks tired.

Philip

It is the same bird, Ron Dudley and I sat in a cold truck for two hours waiting for the eagle to lift off. This image was taken later in the morning than the one I posted in Avian. I don't think he was sleepy, I believe he was looking at a creature below the post.

You got a link to the frosty version? Nice capture of our national symbol, Mia--although Ben Franklin may have disagreed with your assessment of his courage

Thanks for the comments & critiques on this image

Stan, you can see the frosty Eagle others have mentioned here. I hope that link works, if not the image is in my gallery.

Mia, this pose is kind of serious; I like it. I would only hope for talons.
