Mohawk Lake Columbines

by Wayne Rhodus

Gallery: FloraPosted July 25, 2010309 views27 comments
Taken at the same alpine lake as my last image, this grouping of columbine was growing a bit higher and further away from the water's edge. Again I was drawn to the stone, lichen and vegatation framing this cluster. Thanks for looking!

50D, 70 - 200 @ 89 mm, 1/15 @ f/16, ISO 400, crop to nearly square, clone out grasses

Beautiful composition Wayne. I like the rock, lichen, flowers and leaves-a mini landscape! Excellent decision to include them all. :toast:

Top notch image Wayne. Terrific lichen covered BG. Not a fan of the uninvited guest though - tends the draw the eyes there.

Stunning! Well thought out composition and the foliage/lichen covered rock provide a perfect backdrop for the beautiful gathering of blooms. I think the "party crasher" should go, as he does distract a tiny bit from this otherwise pristine scene. Great work on this, Wayne :toast:

What a beauty Wayne! I love all in this photo: composition, design, movement; the play of the opposite colors blue, yellow, green. You have succeded in making a warm and luminous image with cold colors. I halve always read, said and wrote that blue flowers must be taken in shade and with dim light: faulse!
Cheers.
