Waipio Valley Lookout

This shot was taken from the Waipio Valley Lookout on the Big Island (Hawaii). I was staying at a bed and breakfast near there and knew there was a lookout in the area, and thus figured there was at least the possibility of a decent shot. Actually, it was not the best view, but after sunset it began to look a lot nicer. This is a blend of three exposures to be able to capture the dynamic range. If you look closely at the left side there is a nice waterfall, and the land mass rising to the upper right is Maui. I know the cliffside look fairly dark, but thats the way it looked to my eye at the time...

The sense of depth here is truly spectacular Daniel. Nice work.

Nicely done Daniel. The size of the trees gives this nice scale (which seems to be immense), and the darkness and sky color gives this nice mood.

Daniel...

I've shot this area as well and would like to see the end of the point in the water, bu that's just me. I do like the mood and the waterfall against the darkened mountain side. Nice scale.

Man, how cool it would be to get down to that waterfall!

Image seems a bit soft, but it brings back memories. Interesting angle for sure.
