Beauty beyond the Chaos

This probably won't be everyone's cup of tea, but that's OK. What drew me to this shot as I zoned in were the four crooked trees, bent almost like knees bowing before the splendor of the autumn color reflected in the lake beyond. This is admittedly rather chaotic, but there is order and beauty to be found all the same. I hope this comes across in the photograph.

I kept the shadows quite cool and dark, as this area of the lake shore was still in heavy shade for a few moments longer before the sun made its way in.

Lake Sam Rayburn, Texas, the day after Thanksgiving 2009.

Canon 5D, 70-200/f4, f/6.3, 145 mm
ISO 800 (didn't bring a tripod)

I like it! It could use maybe a tad more color.

I love it! Maybe crank up the saturation, as Mark suggests.

Wasn't impressed by the thumbnail at all, but really like this larger version. I like the abstract nature of this and the fact that the eyes have two distinct areas to view. Beautiful reflection especially. I do agree with the earlier comments concerning adding color.

That's a pretty cool shot. I like the layer approach here - well seen and executed.

Nicely put together. The large version is especially nice.

This is all right, Jason. The trees are sort of like curtains that I'm looking through to see the reflection. Compositionally, I can see a crop for the left and right sides to eliminate some of the clutter-like elements, but it's entirely your call on where to go with this.
