Man, summer sucks! Working too hard, and shooting too little. Have been pretty busy lately, but sure have enjoyed some of the great stuff put up by everyone. This is a little wider view of Upper Yosemite Falls as the first rays of morning sunlight touch the spray as it falls. This one gives a better sense of scale as the visible part of the falls is probably around 700-800 feet! It's hard to say but about half of the 1400ft. drop! A large version is included too. I hope you like it, and thank you for your thoughts.

Thanks,
Chris

This is sweet! I really like the narrow vertical crop, the conversion is great and the diagonal foreground is nice which give a great sense of scale to how huge these falls really are. The sunlit area of spray is mesmerizing!

The foreground is not very interesting, but the background more than makes up for it. Great choice for bw and great choice of shutter speed. The brighter part at the top looks almost like an entity from Doctor Who.

This is really sweet. I would have to respectfully disagree with Marsel on the FG, I think it adds a lot, especially with the diagonal line and scale it provides. Great tones - perfect for B&W. Great job Chris.

A beautiful shot, Chris. I like this a lot. The b/w really works nice here. The water is amazing to look at. Looks like you chose a perfect shutter speed for that. I also like the diagonal foreground line with the rocks and trees. Trees do look a little to sharp. I can just hear the sounds! Great work.

This is a spectacular and powerful image Chris. The water and spray look like an apparition. The and B&W works well here.

Awesome image, Chris. I think the trees add some nice scale to this scene and help show the power and size of the falls. The touch of light at the top of the falls is also a nice element.

Another stunning portrait of Yosemite's moving water! Love it!

What time of year was this photo made?

I think the trees in the FG add necessary scale to the scene, but they might be a bit oversharpened. I love the composition and shutter speed. Your B/W conversion is just beautiful. Great work!

This is fantastic! The detail, compostion and BW choice are great. I really like the fact that you used a faster shutter speed to freeze the water, I think if you lost the detail in the water this wouldn't as powerful.

I love the falls - absolutely superb processing - but the foreground isn't doing for me. Maybe its the oversharpening or maybe because the light is so much brighter and the contrast so much flatter than the falls, but for me it just detracts from an otherwise very powerful image.

Great shot - the small version doesn't do it justice. The large version is well worth the look. Well done.

Doesn't even feel like Yosemite Falls. Textures here are great. Could see burning the LLC a bit to darken it an put greater emphasis on the water.

That is a great conversion! Really like the tones in the upper half. That billowing cloud of water fallling has a lot of character. Excellent work.

Very well done, Chris. I would agree the trees look a bit oversharpened, but minor stuff. I like Tony's idea about burning the trees a bit, but looks good as presented.
