I've been after a male of this species for a while so I was pretty pleased to get this. It's 99% in breeding plumage - just a couple of feathers in the forehead are grey.

I've included a slightly tighter crop for the larger image which, upon reflection, I think I prefer as the bird is a little less centrally placed.

cheers
Rob

Beautiful, Rob. I do think I prefer the crop in your larger image, but not by much. :toast:

An absolute beauty Rob, I like the tighter crop but this works as well.

Rob really a lovely image!! I like the smaller image crop because the environment is so complimentary. Congrats on finally getting this male!! :toast: :toast:

What a spectacular little guy Rob. Both crops work for me but I might slightly prefer the tighter one for the better look at this beauty (and at the details of the perch).

Rob,

This is a gorgeous little bird, big congrats on getting the male! Like Dennis, I prefer the crop of the larger version to the smaller one. It makes the bird a bit larger in the frame and shows off the nice details and the bird is slightly out of the center.

Exquisite color & details.Love the BG & prefer the smaller crop for same reason as Nancy mentioned.

Rob, This is great! I agree with you and the others on the tighter crop. Especially for those of us that have never seen one, the greater detail is a big plus.

Congrats on the capture, excellent work. :toast:

Gorgeous bird. I like the perch and the gradient gray BG. I, like Dennis, prefer the crop on the larger version, "but not by much"!. Nice capture. :toast:

Excellent capture of a lovely bird - head-turn, shrub, background, detail - all good.

Awesome little bird! I too like both crops, but I guess since this is such a beautiful colored bird I am leaning more toward the larger crop to see the details more on the subject. :toast:

Wow, neat how you caught him as he appears to be daintily tip-toing across the tips of the branches like a fairy.
