Drifting in

The fog was drifting up from the lower elevations, making for some interesting conditions at Long lake last weekend. Enjoyed watching it move around. The flowers are proliferous on the south side of the Lake, and made for a grand show.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

I love the shallow depth of field here - it adds to the misty mood. I would take a 4x5 vertical crop of the top, as the bottom portion doesn't hold as much interest for me.

An interesting shot--and great flowers--but to be honest w/o your explanation i would have thought the bg was just OOF as opposed to there being any fog. Just not my thing, i guess...

Morris, I like the shot, but...

I think your are going to have two schools of thought on this one. Those who like shallow DOF in landscape and those who don't. I'm sorry to say I am in the camp that likes everything in focus... sorry.

i love the muted colours and softness of the mid ground in particular. i'd be inclined to experiment with chopping a little off the bottom and the left - lose that tree poking in from the left. great mood, i love it.

I like the shot, but I would prefer to have at least most of the midground flowers in sharper focus.

Morris, Your DOF choice lends a nice softness to this image. I think it was a good choice.

I like it exactly as it is. Like Floris, I initially thought that a crop off of the bottom would help it but when I tried it by putting my hand over the bottom, the comp wasn't as strong.

Really love the flowers and the dreaminess of the image. It almost looks like some purple fringing in the trees,

Great capture of the flower field. The fog in the background looks great with nice, dreamy feel. I don't really care for the top part, but the carpet of flowers looks lovely.

Thats a pretty scene, Morris. I like the mood the fog gave this. I agree with the crop Floris suggested.

I like everything about this picture, including the fog except for the bottom portion.
Very nice Morris

Very colourful flowers and a beautiful scene. But I guess, like a few others, am not so sure about the OOF top half.

I really like the fog in the flowers, but I find the top of the image a little less interesting. Beautiful wildflower scene and some great colors.
