This coyote was hunting for mice among the sagebrush in Yellowstone. This is my first post. Comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Nice shot - my only nit is that the coyote is a bit too centered for my tastes, love that sea of sage though. Welcome to NPN Ernie!

Neat capture! I like the intense attitude of the coyote and your perspective to get the face unobstructed. The light feels like pre-dawn or twilight. I think you might be able to add a touch of brightness for more pop.

He does have that intent look about him. I like the fact he's only partially visible.

Hi Ernie and welcome to NPN :wavey: I quite like this, the natural color scheme as well as the stalking pose of the coyote are very compelling. I agree on brightening this up a little and perhaps increase mid-tone contrast a bit. Also cropping a sliver off the bottom could strengthen the presentation IMO. Great first post and I am looking forward to seeing more of your work as well as comments here in this gallery. :toast:

Very nice 1st image Ernie! Love the instensity!
As has been stated, I'd crop a little off the left side to get him out of center and maybe brighten it up a little.

The photo looks much better! I'd probably cut your crop about in half, then crop a little from the bottom. Your new crop cuts part of the visible coyote out.
Still love the intensity in it's face!!

Excellent shot. I really like the atmosphere here caused by the low contrast and very low light levels. If this were mine, I would definitely NOT brighten this. I do agree that cropping a slice from the bottom would make this stronger though. Well done, and welcome to NPN.

Ernie,

Great first post and excellent job taking advantage of the recommendations to improve an already fine effort. I love how the face is the center of attention with the majority of the body hidden from view. It really conveys the context of a hunting coyote that is completely in its element. Well done.
