There is a great clarity and liveliness to this photo Ronnie. Beautiful lighting and color. I had a D200, I don't recall 400 iso looking this good! :toast:

Excellent, as usual. Great pose, nice detail, good BG.
Not so sure about the second OOF owl in the rear - I think I might clone him out, myself, as that black eye is distracting.
How did you get such a straight-on shot from your truck?! I've never seen these guys except in high brances..
Sure glad to see you posting!

You blokes must have to shoo the owls away - great setting, details and convenient little head turn

Very nice image of the owl. I agree with Sandy on the second OOF one in the background. I'd love to have this opportunity with a Barred owl.

Wonderful setting and framing for the owl, I like the feather detail, subtle colors and the head turn, one of the best owl shots I have seen, way to go.

Very nice. I like that we can see part of another owl behind the main one. I'm jealous of anyone who can find these owls. I've been trying for over a year in Florida to find one.

Ronnie,

Every time I see an image of Barred Owls I hear "who cooks for you, who cooks for you all" in my head", I love the call of this species and it brings back fond memories for me. Beautiful techs, light and pose. A very appealing image as presented.

I also agree with Sandy on the oof owl, however the primary subject looks spot on. Very well done Ronnie. Love the colours and detail in this comp.

Very nice image as presented. The bright, overcast light was perfect for the owl & environment. I would also prefer to not have the 2nd owl in the BG as it is a bit of a distraction.

Hi Ronnie, The primary subject couldn't be better. Interesting mix of opinions here on the second owl so here's my fifty cents. I like the OOF owl in the image for the feeling it gives me that they're together in that setting and for what you must have observed while you were shooting them. I think the second bird is just OOF enough and the eye placement is perfect to set an interesting mood. The only nit I have, and it's minor, is the OOF bright vegetation in front of the tail. More magic from you in low light and without flash.

Great image. I love the OOF limb coming into the image for the bird. The detail and contrast in the primary bird is spot on. I like the secondary bird as well. It kept me looking at this image longer-which is of course the point: holding my attention.
