This is another in the "Prairie Storm" series that I've been compiling over the summer. We are into the severe weather season here in the Canadian Prairies and on any given day, anything is possible.

Thanks again for taking the time to stop by to take a look.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated.

Great one Mark. The sky is incredible and the field of Canola provides a nice contrast in color. Well done.

This is very nice! What a dramatic sky, and I like the compo placing the two major clouds on the thirds.

Mark: Fantastic scene and comp. This looks about 2/3 of a stop underexposed at least. On the histogram there are few pixels above 205. Just bringing the white point there brightens the field and the clouds and makes an already dramatic scene even more so. >=))>

Mark,

Fantastic prairie storm image - great panoramic presentation too. I'm loving this. Now I'm not sure if this is natural grasslands, or a cultivated field, but I can't see any "rows" or anything that makes me think other than natural. In any case, this is just a grand and dramatic image on the plains!

It's strictly a personal preference, but I would bring more contrast in this. Brighter brights and darker darks. I really like the comp and the strong drama you bring with it.

Hey Mark,
Love the colors and storm skies.....larger version show it off nicely. I was concerned originally with the balance.....but the big cloud balances teh RH side very effectively! Very well done! :toast:

I love the colors and the dramatic sky. I would like to see it with a slightly lighter field just for cmparison but perhaps it wouldn't match the the mood in the sky and I might not like it as much.

Thanks very much all, it was something to see in person. I waited for about an hour while this storm was unfolding as I was really hoping to try and catch a nice bolt of lightning on the right side just to finish off this image. There was lots of lightning but not while i had my finger on the trigger so to speak. Also there was a fine line in maintaining a nice yellow while i tried to bring out the black in the cloud in PS. Also Lon...this is a field of Canola which covers the whole field...a sea of yellow really and sometimes spectacular when being compared to a nice black sky. I'm really happy that this one went over so well.
