Here's another from my series with the Osprey and Starry Flounder. This was taken a few frames before my first post. About 80% of frame. Just a sliver taken from right and some taken from the bottom.

Great series Nate. I like the head on view, really emphasizes the huge wingspan. The sparkling droplets of water suspended in the air add a lot to the image. :toast:

Nice sharp capture, Nate. I too like the water droplet action. The only nit I would state would be the inherent limitation of a head-on shot: even with close inspection we can't see details of the bird and prey that even a slight angle would reveal. I think that here the offsetting advantage is the sense of action it conveys. :toast:

Nice shot, Nate! I've not found it easy to get it with fish just out of water.

Wow great image! Just one question though... Aren't flounder salt water fish? So how was there a flounder in this pond? Great shot!

Another excellent image Nate, a different perspective from your first post which was a real impact image. That really looks a large wingspan compared to the body. The more images I see of this bird the more envious I get. Graham

Thanks for your comments everyone!

Cam, to answer your question this is a tidal pond. It has an inlet/outlet to Puget Sound which is a salt water body. There is a freshwater creek that also enters the pond, so it would be considered brackish or estuary water.

Nate- a very interesting shot. The wing position is awesome, the disturbed water at impact and water droplets midair illustrate the strength of this bird, yet there is a grace of motion conveyed. A suburb action shot, congrats! :toast:

This is up there with Ron's latest post - an image I've dreamed of capture. Did you do noise reduction on this? I'd expect more detail in the water.
