Sony A700
Minolta 24-85 @ 28mm
ISO 100, .8sec @ f16, CPL

On our trip to Canada last summer my wife and I traveled through Olympic NP. We spent a couple of days on the coast and barely saw any sunshine at all. As we drove on to Port Angeles the skies got progressively clearer until we stopped off at Sol Duc Falls. Because of our tight travel schedule on this part of the trip I only had this one opportunity to shoot the falls. I wanted to bring those coastal clouds but none showed up. I tried to tame the high dynamic range as best I could but there were still troublesome hot spots here and there. This capture was exposed primarily for the highlights and then processed to bring out the details in the shadows. All in all I'm fairly pleased even though softer light would certainly have been my preference. All comments welcome.>=))>

Been up there many times, Bill. Not bad, nice comp and the light works pretty well. I think id crop off the very top to nix the one highlite. Might make a good conversion too. :wavey:

Bill:
A nice departure from flora  Lovely composition and I also like the water blur. Good post processing as well. :toast:

I really like this photo, Bill. This kind of lighting is extremely difficult (at least with only one exposure) and you certainly made the best of it. The colors are excellent, even in the shadows, the details are very crisp and the highlights really make the scene. I'm not a big fan of veiled water but it works quite well in this scene. The large version is particularly nice.

I like this just the way it is Bill. A nice peaceful feeling evoked by the water, the soothing greens and the dappled light

Very nicely captured scene here, Bill. I'd agree with Stan on shaving just a bit off the crop to get that one trouble spot. With that out of the way, the light in the rest of the scene feels pretty good.
