Haven't been able to participate much lately due to schedule before today.....as always it is inspiring to come here!
This is from my April tour to Arches.....I like to explore areas often overlooked and this is one of my favorites. Had great cloud cooperation on this trip....which is rare!
Canon 1D Mark 3 with the 17-40mm lens at 17mm for 1/10 sec. at f22 and ISO 640 (windy) all tripod mounted w/graf studioball head.

Cool Roman!
Like you said, the clouds did seem to be cooperating! I love the comp... The FG, middle, and BG all work well together. Good shot!

Interesting scene, especially with the clouds. Like your processing.

I really like the comp and the clouds! The color is very natural looking as well. My preference would be for a touch more contrast maybe. But it's just what I would do. I still like it as is.

That area in the "fins" section is one of my favorite spots in arches. The strong wind is evident on the tree, but that makes an interesting effect. The clouds are awesome too. I feel the foreground is lightened maybe a bit too much and could use some more contrast.

This is an image that is very inspiring. So many elements that are arranged perfectly to involve me in the photo, especially the large one. Colors are great and compliment each other very well. The sky, can't get any better. Nice work here Roman.

Beautiful work, I could see a small crop from the bottom.

I like this one a lot, Roman. The composition is well chosen and the colors are wonderful - especially the red/green color contrast of rocks and foliage. An overall successful shot, I'd say.

This is really cool Roman, and I love the composition. Very nice to explore the FG area and then follow your eye back to the fins. Excellent image.

Great capture. Love the strong composition. I'd like a bit more blue saturation in the sky.

That's my kind of rough desert landscape Roman! Would love to visit some of those awesome US parks in the west some day. I am only left wondering if maybe moving in a bit closer (physically) to those nice bushes would have provided a better immediate FG object than the rock you have now.Nevertheless a great scene! :toast:

Roman,

Quite a lovely and nicely executed landscape. It's a little different from your standard near/far composition in that you have near/near, then near and then far. I think it results in a pretty effective compositions overall. the color is great and you mentioned, you have a very complimentary sky. No nits from me. NIce work.

Great image. To me, your choice of lens (and mm setting) is what sets this shot apart from others. 17mm emphasizes the foreground nicely. The clouds are nice and a bit unusual, but I feel the eye is drawn more strongly to the foreground. Also by the great contrast in texture between foreground (sharp) and background-sky (blurred). And color, foreground (orange) and background (blue). And foreground is quite saturated compared to the sky.

I always enjoy trying to figure out precisely what makes images like this superior. I (canvas artist as well as photographer) hope I am reasoning correctly.
