On the move

This was a lucky shot. The tiger was walking at a regular pace into the woodland away from the track. I stopped the jeep, grabbed my camera, and followed him with it. This is what I got.

D70, 200-400VR, ISO 200, f/4, 1/6, hand held, 80% of FF.

C&C welcome.

I appreciate all the C&C on my prior postings. Thank you!

Butch

Excellent capture ! You have done exceptionally well at the shutter speed of 1/6. I feel you can further enhance the effect with some selective burning.

Hey Butch,

Nice "lucky grab". I particularly like the colour palette of this shot and how the blurred areas work so well (colour-wise) with the subject. In a perfect world I can think of two things that I think would have improved this shot - a lower shooting angle (I know it wasn't likely possible here), and perhaps that front right leg swinging forward (and blurred) to imply a little more forward motion. But...these truly are "perfect world" wishes - I totally understand this was a quick grab and you did produce a compelling shot with little or no time to prepare. Well done!

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

I like what you've done here. I think you did an excellent job capturing the motion.

Hey Butch, you disappoint me saying this was a lucky shot; I saw this on your website and thought you had intentionally planned and executed this very well. No just pulling your leg, we all need to be lucky now and then and motion blur images in particular are hard to pull off successfully. I do appreciate your total honesty though! As you may have gathered, i like this a lot, to me it has a lot that a perfect motion blur image should have; the subject should be clearly identifiable, there should be enough blur to imply motion (whether from the BG or the subject, whichever is moving) and the image should be eye-catching. Well done or should I say lucky you.

This is a cool shot, especially since it wasn't planned. I wish the front legs were moving forward to really emphasize that the tiger was moving.

The implied blur is great here as these animals can move so quick and I image you only see a flash of them in the forest. Well done.

I just saw this on your website and loved it immediately! Great motion effect but enough sharpness in the image. Perfect! :toast:
