Dust In The Wind

This photo was a spur-of-the-moment thing. There was a strong wind that dark and cloudy day in Tsavo and I couldn't see a thing because of the dust - from the van in front of us and from our own. Then the sun broke through it and I saw how Africa this image really was: dust, sun, heat, blurred vision because of all that... So I got the idea for this shot. I got my camera out and my driver wanted to stop the van : No! that was exactly what I DIDN'T want. Taking this shot from a bumpy moving vehicle gave me the exact result I wanted: an Africa I longed to share with everyone else. Tsavo East National Park, Kenya.

Very interesting. I can almost feel the heat. I'd say you captured the essence of your personal African experience.

I really like this shot. Totally captures the essence of the moment, similar in a lot of ways to travelling in outback Australia. Wonderful use of the blurred effect.
