Mt. Dillon on the South side of the Brooks Range along the Dalton Highway. This is a unique mountain that I couldn't resist shooting a panorama of despite being -25°F. Also, we had an 18-wheeler hot on our tail that we didn't want to get behind so I had to jump out of the truck and shoot 3 very fast handheld frames and scramble back to the truck.

Sony DSC-R1, ISO-160, f8.0, 1/640, stitched in AutopanoPro

Please look at the large version. The small one is way too compressed.

Nice comp, Gary, not bad for a quick grab! Another good mid-day shot too--you must specialize in those

Gary: Wonderful lighting and the details in the large version are terrific. Well worth the effort. :toast: >=))>

The larger photo really looks nice. Great detail. I never would have thought to hand hold for a stitched pano.

Stan; 5:30 PM in March at the Brooks Range is more like the magic hour. The sun was just barely above the horizon (notice the long shadows from the trees).

Buck; I shoot lots of panoramas and probably 80% of the them are hand held. Normally I would shoot a shot like this with lots of vertical frames but I was in a hurry so I just shot 3 horizontal frames. Out of the truck, race to the opposite side of the road, 3 shots, race back to the truck and get back in all took right at 30 seconds! Even if we didn't have a freighter on our heels I would have shot it just as fast because I was in my shirt sleeves.
