Icy Tioga Lake

This was a cold morning last June at Tioga Lake. I hoping for some clouds but not so lucky, the thin layer of ice was a treat.

C&C welcome Thanks

That thin layer of ice makes some really cool patterns and designs in the reflection. Yeah some dramatic clouds would have been nice but sometimes a pretty blue sky works too. I think the rest of the image is strong enough that it works well here.

Love the thin ice layer on the lake. The image looks warm, even with snow on the mountain. Maybe the light warmed it up, but the ice feels like cold refreshment... Nice composition. Well done, Kyle.

Very nice despite the lack of clouds; non-photographers would be much less picky and love this. The blue sky would be a great place to put a title for a cover or similar too.

Kyle,

This is just all around beautiful. The composition is excellent with the rocks in the foreground and the transparency of the cool, crisp water. The colors, saturation, sharpness, everything is spot on. You did a great job with the processing on this one. No nits or suggestions, just a beauty to look at.

I think John had the right sentiment: the photographer crowd that reacts primarily to colorful sunrise/set skies won't get too excited, but most other folks will think this is plenty nice. That ice on the water adds a unique element and really strengthens the image IMO.

Really nice comp and I like those rocks beneath the water in the foreground. Great blue sky as well. The ice is a nice touch.

Great shot and I like the clear blue sky. Did some backcountry skiing on Mount Dana a couple of years ago (very steep).
