Working on this series has taken a lot of thought.

This particular image was inspired by Hibiscus, posted by Luke Ormond.

It was the only one of the series shot indoors with the use of the onboard flash to create a feeling of solidness to the petals.

D700
70-200mm lens @ 160mm
f/22
ISO 800
Spot meter
tripod & cable release
1/60s

As always, thank you for your comments and suggestions. I've subsequent reshot Summer at the crack of dawn when the winds were more quiet. Thank you all for your comments. The results will probably become Winter

Carol: Interesting comp and a good result. I'm not usually a fan of flashed shots like this but yours works pretty well for me. You controlled the shadows really well. Nicely done.>=))>

Interesting image Carol. I like the darkness in it and the mood certainly fits the Autumn title. I've never used flash so I don't know how difficult it is to get right but I like the lighting in this. Compositionally - I don't know. I'm having trouble finding a pattern or structure that I can relate to. There's an S curve that I'm latching on to but ... I don't know. Interesting and a little perplexing for me. I'll be back. I have just looked at summer and the mood in this one is certainly very different. I like you have managed to create different mood with the same subject. :toast:

First thing that struck me here was the color. I am so used to pink bougainvilleas this orangish one took me by surprise. Good take on this flower again. I like the curve formed by the flower going back as well.

Carol I like very much the left part of this image with excellent details and very nice colours. I'm not quite sure about the top right part. Anyhow very nice work.

So I looked at this again this morning and it looks more natural to me. The comp also seems more balanced, The bloom in the fg is balanced by the OOF bloom in the viewer's upper right and the center green leaf could be a fulcrum. I could see a slight crop from the bottom but certainly not necessary. I think I understand the comp now and I like the image - particularly so in light of the title.

Hi Carol :wavey: A very interesting composition. To me, the lines, and colors are so sombre . Here in canada, the fall colors are bright and gay. So do me a brilliant autumn scene

I really like the combo of colors in this one. Also, the light is very well controlled. Well done!
