Found this in Osoyoos, B.C. yesterday morning. There is really not a great deal of activity here!

1D MkIV, 500mm + 1.4x, ISO800 (my default setting), f10 - 1/2500, windy and lots of movement of the reeds, beanbag on car window, early morning light. Cloned an OOF reed bit sticking out back of head. Last frame before taking off this natural perch.

Thanks for looking; C & C please.

Very nice capture and comp, and I like the colors very much. Wish we could see more the tail...

I share your pain: our migratory species are almost all gone, too. I led a bird walk Saturday and found just 14 species.

Wonderful soft feel, KC, and very sharp to boot! Hope you have had a good year on the links.....mine has been better than the last couple. Lack of bird action "forced" me to play more...

Hi KC. I like the setting a lot and the dof of f10 was a fine choice. Active pose, although it is a bit difficult to figure out just where his legs and tail are on first look. Not much bird life here either, mostly corvids. :frown:

Hi KC! Lots of these around here! I guess I must take them for granted as I have never got a decent natural shot of them. Maybe because they eat me out of house and home all year round. And they are pretty shy too, at least with me.

I think the habitat here works very well KC, it's a great comp.
Looks like just the right settings under the windy conditions you speak of.
Well done :toast:
