Hanging ON!

I came across a tree at the refuge this week and watched as 4 Downy Woodpeckers worked for their breakfast. They were comical at times as they hung upside down and gleaned insects off leaves. Image cropped to 60% of original.

I really like the behavior in the image, but the focus seems to be on the leaf and the eye of the bird is a bit soft.

really cute little Downy, Craig. love the behavior and pose, just wish for a little more DOF to get the head sharp.

Very neat behavior, Craig. I've never seen them gleaning off leaves. Looks more like Chickadee behavior. On this monitor (work) it looks like you could bring the brightness up a touch. Excellent detail. :toast:

Nice behavior capture, Craig. A bit more DOF would have gotten the head a bit sharper. Looks like you would have had the light...

Great timing for a most unusual capture. If you could sharpen up the Donwny's eye just a little you have it. It's great seeing out of the box poses and elements done like this.
