Morning Sunlight 2

This is another image from my last trip to Banff/Jasper in the Morning Sunlight series. It has been a long time since I've been fortunate enough to see conditions such as these here at Moraine Lake. Smoke from the BC forest fires still causing a slightly muted look on the mountain face in the background. No wonder I just can't get enough of this place.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a look.

As always your thoughts and comments are welcome and appreciated.

I never get tired of seeing shots from Moraine Lake. I like the tighter crop you chose here since it looks a bit different from most of the shots from Moraine. If this were mine I would have included the top of the peak on the right to create some balance in the scene.

Too bad about the smoke but this is still a beautiful capture. I agree with Scott about the peak on the right but its a small nit. You captured good detail in spite of the smoke. The exposure is excellent and so is the location! Nice work!

I didn't like the crop on top of the mountain and the little darkness on the left side... pls review your composition and read more about better photo compostion..

thanks for sharing ,,,, Sulaiman,Oman

The comp may be a bit unorthodox, but I find this really pleasing nonetheless. The remaining smoke actually seems to add a bit more depth to the scene.

Super shot Mark. My D5000 hasn't been able to produce grand vistas like this with such superb detail, it must be defective.

Nice job. :toast:

Mark,

I really like the more intimate take on this famous location. It's a bummer about the fire/smoke causing the haziiness, but I think if you selectively painted in some contrast in both the mountain and reflection you could mitigate that haziness a little. Actually, it's not that bad and does help with the depth as Tony pointed out. My only nit would be either more sky to include the top of the peak, or no sky at all and just let the reflection show us the mountains.

Nice job with the exposure control as well by not letting the shadowed slope get too dark.
