Early morning sunlight illuminating the face of Mt Hooker in the Wind River Range of Wyoming. The north face of Mt Hooker is 1800 feet tall and is one of the largest chunks of granite in North America. This was an absolutely beautiful scene to witness. I noticed the clouds were just flying over the summit of the mountain and wanted to try to catch some of that motion in the photo. I used a 4 stop ND filter plus a polarizer to lengthen the exposure.

Nikon D80, 12-24 Nikkor Dx lens.
10 seconds at f/16, ISO 100. Polarizer. 4 stop ND filter.

Please view large. All C&C are appreciated. Thanks.

Beautiful Image, ever since I read about one of Galens climbing adventures on that wall I've wanted to go check it out. :toast: absolutely fantastic.

Great mountain and water!
Good comp and DOF.
I'm personally not too sure about the off clouds.. they seem to draw my eye away from the goreous alpenglow.

Really nice simple, clean comp. I'm also on the fence about the motion in the clouds but a really nice image either way.

Great shot, The glow on hooker is wicked.

I really like everything about this shot, from the stunning glow off the mountain to the stillness of the water. The sharpness of the foreground rocks and slight cloud motion, just wonderful.

Gorgeous light! Van imagine the sheer size of the mountain. I also love the way you have composed this image. Geometry and curve of the mountain is adorable!

This is really pretty. Nice color, reflection and the glow is great. Not a fan of the long exposure with the clouds. They seem to blurred and it makes them hard to look at (just my feeling on the clouds). Still, a very nice picture and nice work.

Love the symmetry here--the clouds work for me too. Awesome shot, Scott!

You sure came back with some nice stuff Scott! I love the color you captured on the rock, and the subtle foreground works well. I too prefer less cloud blurring, but it's a personal preference thing and I see what you were aiming for.

Not sure I like the blurred clouds here, but the rest is terrific

I'm with the "clouds are somewhat distracting" group but I love everything else. Beautifully rendered.

The light on this image certainly makes it. Very nice. Reflection is great. The clouds don't work for me. They really draw my eyes away from an otherwise wonderfully captivating image.

This is quite stunning. The rocks strewn everywhere add a LOT of depth to the scene and the reflection is very tranquil and pleasing. But the best part of all is that red color on the rocks-- oh that color. It's just awesome!

I wish there were more clouds in the ULC to help balance the sky out, but that's a fairly minor nit. Hell of a job one this one, overall.

Fantastic light and very nice detail.I'm not sure about the clouds either but I'd have to see a shot with sharper clouds to make a fair comparison before I'd say they were a negative element. Overall a really nice image, but It looks like there was a nice glow on the peak on the left and I'm curious to see a comp with more of that. :toast:

Thanks to everyone for the comments. Seems like the group is divided about the cloud motion. I have another version with the clouds more static. I will post that one for comparison soon.
