This is a Lifer for me and two of them showed up locally a day or so ago. I missed the one seen last year, so I am delighted to get this! They do run long the sand very quickly!

1D MkIV, 300mm + 2.0X, 1/500 @ f11, ISO800, handheld, afternoon overcast sky, used Rapid Strap to carry camera and lens on bicycle - quickest way to get to this spot.

Your comments would be appreciated.

Great bird; fun image.

That's a handful to hold, and I can't imagine taking such a rig on a bike.

Very cool, Kwan. I like the pose and open bill. The wave in the background adds to the setting. Congrats on the lifer. :toast:

Congratulations on the lifer, KC, and on a fine shot of a difficult species. I've spent entire days along the Tangle River, where this species breeds, and not gotten anything this nice. A fine capture of definitive behavior.

And you are a brave man to carry that rig on a bicycle...

Congratulations on getting this Lifer. A wonderful image, I really like the leg position and the turned head with the open beak, it makes the image really "alive" for me. Nice detail and bg too. :toast:

Congratulations on a lifer. This is a very interessting pose. I like the one lifted leg. My only nit is that the legs aren't sharp. This would be a top notch image if the legs were sharper.

Way to go with this find. He looks pretty carefree, rather kicking up his heels and making smart alec comments as he leaves by the looks of it. :toast:

Amazing Kwan. The head turn and the raise foot are excellent. The nice low angle and the uncluttered background put the icing on the cake.

Congrats on the lifer Kwan, I'm used to seeing this species on the rocks, not the beach. I really like the head turn and open beak. :toast:
