Sun Worshipers 1

Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro, CPL
ISO 400, 1/200 @ f16

Getting a bit of a jump on the theme for the upcoming week (8/29-9/4) just to jog everyone's memory. Put on your shades and caps and get out there in the sunshine. Shot these Star of Texas hibiscus right at noon today so the light could not have been much harsher. The brightness actually helped as it was windy and the polarizer cut down my SS even at ISO 400. All comments welcome. >=))>

Whites and greens look good Bill as does the subject/ground separation. The image has a wild and windy late summer feel to it that I like. Great kickoff image.

Good handle on exposure here, Bill. It's fitting that a moderator lead the way into blazing sun.

What a selection for the theme, Bill :toast: - stunning. So much of details preserved shooting in the "harsh" light. Lovely composition as well.

The light's a little harsh for my taste but since that's the whole idea you did a great job holding detail in the whites.
The sun is gone up here in the Pacific NW and won't reappear until next Spring so I'll sit back and watch you guys rather than do any image posting myself.

Good shot Bill considering it was taken under the searing rays of the white-hot sun.
Nice details and it's suprising the greens aren't more washed out. Nice job on the exposure, all considered. If we get any sunlight up here in the Pacific NW before next June I'm up for the challenge, but it would really help out a shade-shooter like me if you would include the full EXIF.

Terrific shot to start us off, Bill. Can't get much brighter than high noon in Texas!

Bill, This is a great reminder. I find myself drawn to the plant centers in this image and I really like the whites on the lower flower.
This adds to my Texas education; haven't seen any Stars of Texas Hibiscus flowers here.

Cheers,

Carol

Excellent combination of gerrn & white. The details are superb. I can imagine that this would be also very good in horisontal layout. Nicely done Bill.
