Another visit to Turimetta Beach this morning, greeted with a fantastic moody sky albeit without a whole lot of colour. Really loved the color of the rocks coming through the water in this spot, added a bit of red into the mix that was otherwise dominated by the green moss on the rocks.

Please view large.

Nikon D700
16-35mm
f13 .3sec ISO100
Single shot, TK luminosity and sat masks, levels, curves etc.

Nice treatment of the water Andrew. Great view of the underwater elements. Nice work.

Beautiful seascape, the waves motion is great and highly dynamic. And I also like how the clouds are somewhat specular to the waves. The middle ground - particularly on the right side - could use some dodging in my opinion.

Very nice work, congrats!

Your shutter speed is right on. Maybe you could have shown more of the underwater rocks in the FG. Or maybe thats another shot.

The water texture here is amazing, Andrew, and the sense of movement is very strong. How did you and your camera stay dry when taking this?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I'll lighten up that mid ground definitely Paolo.

I've got a few shots with more foreground showing but they don't feel as strong as this. I quite liked the feeling that you were being taken by the water with this one also.

I ended up with very full gum boots after a few of these shots, however it wasn't quite wild enough to risk the camera :)

Thanks again everyone.

Andrew,

Wow, talk about motion! this truly has a physical sense of motion - so much that if I look at this too long I start getting dizzy. You know, like when you stand in the sand with the waves rush by you how it's hard to keep your balance? that's how this one makes me feel. And just for that alone, I think you have captured a fabulous image.

And as you mentioned, I also like the mix of colors as well. My only suggestion would be to clone in some cloudy stuff at the top to minimize or remove the bright gap in the clouds. Otherwise, this is fabulous.

Great water treatment here, I love the action. Those breaking waves in the back add a lot to. Nice job. :toast:

Thanks for the suggestions Lon and Paolo, I've posted a quick update. A bit of cloning to the sky and dodging to the midground.

Great job in conveying all that motion. The rework is an improvement on an already fine shot.
