Tribulation peak

A view of "Becco della Tribolazione" and the surrounding peaks, part of the Gran Paradiso massif in Piedmont, Italy.
Maybe it's hard to believe it - since the morning I shot this picture everything was rather peaceful and calm - but that's actually the name given to that mountain by the first men who attempted the first ascension about 150 years ago, probably because of its vertical walls difficult to climb, and also for the weather that here changes every minute.

Your C&C are as always highly appreciated, thanks for your time.

Techs: EOS 50D, Canon EF 70 300 IS USM, tripod. Stitched from 7 verticals

I like the presentation very much Paolo. The clouds over the left peak make it seem like a smoke stack. The blues and greens are very pleasing to my eyes.

Man, you have some amazing country. This is an epic looking spot and I think you captured it very well. I know many people don't like day photos, but I think they are actually becoming a bit more rare than 'magic hour' images these days.

I would really like to explore a place like this...

By the way, large image was definitely worth viewing.

Sorry I missed commenting on your last photo, which I liked a great deal. The hard light and resulting high contrast on the very detailed scene is counter to the simplicity of a mountains/sky photo. It's actually a good thing in a way.

I like how rugged and impressive this mountainscape looks, especially that main peak. The bright contrasty conditions works well with this.

The pano treatment showcases this mountain range nicely. That little cloud is like the proverbial "cherry on top" to a finely captured image. Might make a good B&W candidate as well.

Nice one, Paolo--classic mountain panorama! Tribolazione would make a nice vertical as well :wavey:

How different these peaks are to my hometown mountains ( San Gabriels and San Bernardino's) . The deep greens of the lowvegation at altutude mixed with the bare rock of the peaks certainly adds flavor and color dynamism to the image. Well done Paolo.

And the Sierras if I'm lucky :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:
