Chiffon Glow

Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 400, 1/320 @ f11

This is a new hibiscus for us and is really starting to put out the blooms. This is another midday shot but by using backlighting the impact of the sun is minimized and even serves an artistic function. I'm pretty pleased with this view and hope you enjoy it too. All comments welcome. >=))>

The back lighting really makes this image IMO Bill. Nice textures and detail on the
"cinco pistola's". :toast:

Gorgeous - I've never seen a hibiscus with this center color.
The soft back-lighting gives a beautiful glow.

Gorgeous. Very similar to the one in macro minus the uninvited guest. Well done.

Bill, really like the comp and detail on this one. The backlighting really works. However, I think the image is a little flat. tnlOn

The perspective and the sharpness of the centre are powerful features of this image for me, Bill, but it is maybe the lighting which makes it special. Beautiful shot !!

Hi Bill, To me the most alluring part of this photo is the Stigma. I think it glows like a jewel.

Such nice detail :toast:

Midday light has it's advantages. Very nice. I like the softness provided by backlight and the high enough kelvin to support sharpness.

Hi Bill :wavey: Superb clarity of detail and form. The color and backlighting is sublime. Your Minolta 200 mm macro is ancient, I'll take it in on a trade in for my new 50 mm1/8
Albert Darmo.Canada

Not too ancient Albert; it's not quite 10 years old and besides, it would take four 50mm lenses to equal it  . . .Bill

VERY very nice Bill. The dark center and end of the stamen really stand out. I love the back lighting. I wonder if there is anything that you can do with the upper right corner, to sort of blend in the lighter petal a bit?
