Taken on the South Slope of the Brooks Range, Alaska, Matthews River, several weeks ago.
This is a rivulet traversing down a narrow gulch.
In places the gulch could not be climbed without going up-and-over.
Nikon D700; Nikkor f/2.8,28 mm manual @ f/16; ISO 250; 1/25 sec.;+-.7 ev.
Process Capture NX2.

Fisch, this is a nice little waterfall. The light seems harsh and the image a bit flat.
Some additional work - darkening and with contrasts might help.

Larry,

I've got mixed reactions here. The geology and coloration of the rock is fascinating. Other than sandstone, we just don't see these colors. But I think because of the color, it also makes me think of slimy sludge or something unnatural. The warm, greenish, brackish water at the bottom doesn't help my reaction either. Maybe Sandy is on to something with some different processing. I'm sorry to have this kind of reaction. It's a fascinating find and I know I would feel differently about this had I been there in person.

Sorry about your feeling on this photo, Lon.
Guess you would have to have been there.
The colors in this area are variable. Numerous rock color lend to the rendition in total.
The was running over the accumulated rocks does have an unusual color not only here
but in the main river.
