On a beautiful summer morning I was out to photograph the Roe Deer rut. Unfortunately there wasn't any activity, but the early-morning mist was very atmospheric so I took a few environmental images instead. Hope you like this one. Comments and critiques are welcome and most appreciated.

Stunning comp and while it looks pretty cool for color temperature, the effect is superb. Very well done.

The blue cast is actually quite beautiful, Sandra! However, there is a lot of foreground where nothing is happening, and the image may benefit with more cropping, imo. :toast:

Looks great Sandra, the crop is perfect. The subdued light is lovely.

Beautiful atmosphere and cool animalscape !
I sort of agree with Dr Ajit's suggestion and may prefer to have about 1/3 of frame as foreground.

I think this is great. Love the composition. I like the very shallow DOF and the use of the OOF foreground to create a base for the image. The image feels like it is tilted to the right. Maybe that is the way the ground really was, but I'd straighten it anyway. Very nice.

Hi Sandra,

Very simple and with nice supporting (yet very subtle) detail to engage the eye - well done! I quite like the colour, that fogbank, plus the background. If the image were mine (and if the original would allow it), I think I'd experiment with shifting the entire image "downward" slightly, i.e., crop off a little more foreground and add that small amount to the top of the frame. The rationale for this is that the immediate foreground is so blurred it adds little to the frame anyway, while that subtle background is a real winner (at least to me).

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

I agree with Brad about the option of a subtle shift, but I think this is very engaging, as posted. Good work! Thanks for sharing.

Hey Sandra,

I very much like the re-post - subtle changes but it makes a lot of difference to my eye! So pleasing to look at!

Cheers...

A beautiful image, deserving of EP. Congratulations.

The change in the re-post is so subtle that I had to go back and forth between the two and read the comments above it to detect it. It works fine for me either way.
