Water off a duck's back

1D Mk1v, 600mm f4, 1/6400. f4.5, iso 400.

First visit to the pond this afternoon and the mallards were great entertainment. Mk iv is proving to be very impressive so far with autofocus.

I just recalibrated my monitor and images are looking rather darker than before - I'm hoping that might help with printing. Comments on this aspect would be appreciated.

The AF really is amazing to capture this so crips and sharp. It looks like it may need a slight CW rotation though as the water apears to lean toward the left (however, this may just be a result of the "wake" made by the duck)

Super shot Ian. Love all the spray, which makes the image for me as does the very low angle you are noted for. Maybe just a tad of rotation needed as Luke mentioned. Please keep us informed on how you like the Mk IV as time goes along.

Ian,
Glad the mark 1v is working out for you. Super shot. Were you in a kayak? Very, very low angle which caps this image for me. Very sharp too. Agree about the CW rotation. I might prefer a touch more canvas at the bottom as there is a lot of head room. Also, there appears to be a bit of noise in the water and the background in the larger version which could easily be toned down. Fantastic image Ian.

It does seem to me to be just a bit dark, but then it could be my monitor also. I enjoy this image, it is not your ususal water spray/duck photo. Thanks for sharing.

Love your low-perspective images Ian. Another cracker there mate. Don't you catch a chill in that pond! My only slight improvement may be some more room below as I think that while we cannot see the feet, they may be still too close to the bottom. In any case, that water shower and the duck's pose are SUPER!

Great angle, splashing pose and BG, the droplets add to it.

Another super image from the magic pond.

I think you will find the IV to be miles ahead of the III in terms of auto focus and the ability to use a higher ISO. I find ISO 800 equates to 400 on the III. I think you could add a little brightness adjustment but it looks pretty good as is. :toast: (pretty great actually)
