Great egret

Here is another somewhat different comp, which I am sure will appeal to some and not to many others. This is basically FF. I just cropped from the top and bottom to make this long comp. I think it fits the long bird given its wings are straight out. I have no more room at the back or front as this is as shot. The lower water is a mix of openwater and lily pads with some cattail and bulrush stems. Interested in knowing what you all think about the comp. Please view larger image for max details.

Canon 7D
500mm f/4
ISO 320
1/4000s
f/7.1
HH
FF long ways, cropped top and bottom for comp.

The pano crop works for me too Ron. A great species ( no pun intended )

Nice flight shot and the whites look good. The comp is a little tight, but it works for me.

Great flight shot, nice and sharp. Agree with Richard with wish for a tad more room.

excellent techs, and extremely impressive keeping the entire bird in the frame. for me the crop doesn't work that well--a little too tight all around.

Like the tight 1:2 comp, I think it's the best outcome with the original this close Ron.
Especially so with the feet this near the back edge..
Of course, you could've played with it & added canvas to recompose I guess, but probably to much work to get it looking right.
This is great as is, beautiful shot :toast:

Nice in flight...I like it a lot!
Especially like the out stretched legs (which are spot on) .
Wings seem to have a bit of blue colorcast on my Mac Screen compared to the whites on lower neck.

You still the flight master! :toast:
