Fall's Eve

I realize this doesn't have a leading line. So, the questions is--is it a significant liability for the image?

Taken last weekend in Yellowstone. It snowed for about 1.5 hrs. before sunset. I thought there was no way the storm was going to clear by sun down, so I got in my car and left. Bad move. About 15 mins. before sunset, I saw some clearing on the horizon, so I turned around and hurried back. This was one of the shots on the way.

I think it's a great and very classical looking image. Classical in the dutch painters sense- a great combination of warm and volumetric light, uncertain atmospheric shapes and a vast array of tiny details to discover.
The heavy black frame really hurts it a bit IMHO.
Great work.

leading line is of no concern to me.
its nice but there seem to be some issues with colors - esp. with the fog above the forest. (can't get my finger on it, though)
but its very moody and the elemnts work well together.

I don't think you need a lead in line at all Ron. I think you can get stuck creating images that are just for a forum, I think it's better to go with your own intuitions and explore your own creativity and so what if something isn't what everyone else wants or loves to comment on.

The image is beautiful and subtle, the pastels mixing in with the golden tones give the eye plenty to see.

Lack of a leading line is not a liability at al IMO. This is all about light, and the light os gorgeous. I love the specks of blue peeking through too. Well done.

heavenly light...I think that more inclusion of the FG field would make this stronger - giving it 3 distinct and complimentary layers

Don't always need leading lines to look good. Fine example this. Glad you were able to find an image in this light.

You don't need leading lines when you have layers like this. The light snow on the trees in the distance makes the image for me!

Very nice shot Ron. The golden color in the sky looks great and I really like the fog and snow. This type of image definitely doesn't need a lead in line.

Incredible colors and light Ron. Love the lingering fog to give some atmosphere and the touch of snow. Doesn't need any leading lines IMO, I wouldn't mind a touch more of the fg though. Very nice capture.

Amazing how nature has a way of tricking us huh. I can't think of how many times I've done that same thing, and then rushed back to capture a fleeting moment. Every time it happens I say, next time just wait it out, but sometimes you're so certain the conditions are not going to change.. Oh well, keeps it exciting right?

this is all about the beautiful pastel colors, and doesn't need a strong fg. Very nice image, Ron.

I have no issues at all with this composition. I think it's very nice. Only nit is the slight blue/cyan color in some of the fog/clouds near the horizon. Nice image!
