I posted another shot of this bird last year as it roosted on this log in a swamp. I wish the head was turned a little more towards me but I thought the raised foot made up for it.

ISO 400 f8 1/1250 exp comp -2/3

cheers
Rob

A really great coot image. Coots of course rae notoriously difficult to expose properly but you nailed it here with a lovely perch and BG.

I have had a devil of a time getting a good coot image even though they winter here in the hundreds of thousands. You make it look easy. Awesone shot. No nits here.

Detail, texture and then the color of bg all make this action image a very nice one. I think more of a head turn wouldn't be realistic as this bird walks down the branch. I know if it was me on that branch I'd be looking where I was going.

The raised foot pose is terrific, and I like the damp feel to the setting and ripple reflections on the coot.

Nice work Rob, the foot up pose works well, and the eye contact is working well enough in this shot.

It's not all head angle despite what some people preach out there. I think in this instance it is very good as is presented. Lovely work mate.
