Rainforest Fern

This image came from the Hoh Rainforest last month. What attracted me was the textures of the fern and the log, as well as the contrast of the bright green with the chocolate brown. Comments appreciated.

I really like this. The log makes a great backdrop for the fern. So much so that an even more intimate shot that excluded the bits of ground would have worked just fine too. Great textures and detail.

Love the texture and detail on the fern Matthew. This is such a great environmental shot. Was going to suggest a crop from the left but the more I think about it, the more I think that space is needed to balance all of the wonderful detail on the left side of the image.

Good job.

I like photos like this with a strong natural backdrop  . Without being there, its easy to give suggestions, so bearing that in mind, and if conditions permitted, I'd have gone for a vertical frame here.

Love the textures and colors Matthew. While I like the trunk the fern is the main attraction for me and I agree with Ram about a crop to vertical. Beautiful image as posted.

The comp, color, and light all combine to make for an excellent shot. :toast:
