Yellow-rump Looking Up

Here's one with a little different pose that I find interesting. It is again on the setup perch (due for a change, I admit), with more of the perch in the ULC. I suspect that some will prefer evicting that portion, but I think it may be complementary to the bird's pose.

Your comments and critiques are appreciated. Please view the larger version if possible.

Canon 7D, 500mm + 1.4x TC, tripod, setup perch

1/1000, f/8, ISO 400, natural light

Crop from horizontal to vertical, to 50% of original (9 of 18MP).

I'm in the eviction camp. The position of the bird, front on, is good, showing the fine detail of the breast feathers, but I wish it had given you a more favorable head turn.

I like the colors and detail, but the composition feels rather unbalanced. Neither the warbler's pose nor the intruding perch at the top works for me in this.

It is a cute pose that has me wondering what he's looking at! Nice detail. Sharon

Nice warm colors in this Brian, the pose doesn't do much for me though. :toast:

I'm in the eviction gang too, Brian. Just concealing the upper LHS and looking at your image really shows me how distracting is that little corner branch. I'm fine with the setup perch. Also, I'm happy to keep seeing it for awhile. Nice detail. Pensive looking bird. :toast:

Brian,
I love the sharp feather detail and the clear background. I like the pensive look too. I agree with others about cloning out the branch in the ulc.

Brian,

I'm in the eviction camp to remove the branch in the ULC, it pulls my eyes away from the bird. I like the pose but the head angle doesn't work well for me. Colors and detail look good, I also like the colors in the background.
