The old Pine Tree

Visited Innerdalen in Norway last week. Second time I was there and this time I stayed for 4 days. This Pine Tree is over 300 years old and is growing very slowly as you can see. Situated on the top of this big stone its not a lot of nourishment to find. Maybe some salt..
Took the shot just before dawn and placed it in front of the famous Innerdal Tower. Any comments about the composition highly appreciated.

I like the rhyming shapes of the peak in the background and the rock in the front. The only way I would know that the pine tree is the intended subject of this picture is from the title. I like the composition, but I think it needs more separation between the two main triangular shapes Which could possibly be achieved by increasing brightness and/or contrast. If it is your intent to feature the pine tree, then it needs to stand out against its background.
There also is a pronounced sharpening halo around the peak in the background.
Composition is good; Light and contrast, less so.

I like the dual triangles with the tree right in the middle. I just wish the lighting was more interesting. If this subject was side lit to further separate the foreground from the background, I think it would be a winner. Since I am unfamiliar with this location, I don't know if such light is possible.

Personally I love the lighting as presented - very moody and compelling. I do find the slight halo around the distant peak to be somewhat distracting, but it's not a deal killer. Overall, very nice.
