It's Coming...

I swore I wouldn't go back, but soon I'll be returning again to the Tetons. I don't think I've posted this here yet. This was taken last year. Depending on your comments, hopefully I won’t have to do battle with the crowds again. This was taken at sunset. Hence, it’s a blend of 3 exposures. The trees and grasses took quite a bit of work to get them to pop. Did I go overboard?

Nice Ron.
Love that purple sky.
I hope I get that same kind of dramatic light in a week or so.
Well done.

A dramatic sunset and a perfect reflection, makes this work very well. I was there about a week ago for sunrise, lots of photographers lined up. The grasses look a little bright to me.

The only thing that's overboard is how beautiful it is - really nice! :toast:

Ah yes, stand in line and wait for your turn to shoot... Although being at this spot for sunset probably isn't quite as bad..

Classic comp with very nice reflections. I do feel the trees are too light for the scene, and the variance in white balance between the sky and trees feels a little off for me. Perhaps a little more tweaking could bring it all together, or maybe I'm just off track. A nice capture none the less.

Good luck if you end up going back again this year..

You certainly got some nice light and clouds. I think I would pull the contrast back just a tad, the scene is very nice but it does feel just a tick overboard, and it doesn't need it. I would also try a crop off the bottom, losing some of the symmetry but it might draw more emphasis to the sky and background elements. Nice image.

Wow, this is a real beauty Ron. The reflection is perfect. I can see darkening the trees just a hair so they don't take away too much attention from the mountains and clouds. I'm really liking the strong yellows around the lakeside; the shot wouldn't have the appeal that it does without that touch of color between the sky and water. Well done!!

Cool shot Ron. If you didn't tell me it was a 3 shot blend, I probably wouldn't have questioned the brightness of the grasses. But since I know, I think they may be a tad to bright. Still, a beauty!

Holy monkeys. What color. Dig what you did...seems apparent but the pop works really well. My only nit is the comp. Would have stepped one or two to the right to give more balance bt fg reeds and bg interest. They feel a bit too on top of each other right now. Killer conditions

what a striking image, Ron! I would, perhaps, darken the grass a little. Skies can do alot of crazy things, and maybe the colors are reasonably real, but it feels a little unnatural to me - maybe warm up the sky and reflection a bit to balance with the wb of the grass???

I don't think you went overboard, you've made an excellent iconic image. One of those places that just gets in your blood and keeps dragging you back to it. Ron

Beautiful capture, Ron! I might darken the mountains/grasses a bit, to see if it gives a deeper mood to match the clouds. Love the fg grass mound...that really adds a key element to this wonderful image. :toast:

Really beautiful - only thought is that the mountains seem to bright to me. Giving the location of the sun, they would/should be darker and I think that would add more drama if the mountains had darker tones to them and were not so mid-grey. Just a thought.... Closest FG rock clump in the water seems a tad bright.

Very nice capture here. It looks very natural to my eye. I think you have just the right amount of detail in the trees and grass. The lightness of the sky and reflection look good to me as well.

Teriffic shot perhaps a little luminous in the grasses and perhaps a fraction too strong in the pinks/magenta when compared against the backdrop of mountains but it is never-the-less a sensational view and a great version of this iconic place.
