Central Bearded Dragon

by Simon Bennett

This Central Bearded Dragon was sunning itself on an old fence post in central New South Wales and allowed a very close approach.

Canon 7D, EF500 f/4 + extension tube EF12 II, tripod, ISO400, 1/100th, f/20, full frame, neat image noise reduction applied to background.

Bet you were pleased with this one Simon, nailed composition, sharpness and bags of detail. A quality shot IMO.

I like the head-up pose of this dragon Simon. As said, the detail, sharpness and smooth BG are all great attributes. Though you handled the midday lighting well, I do feel softer light would have made this a lot more attractive to look at.

Super portrait. I like the directional lighting with deep shadows that helps to show the texture of the lizard and stump. Neat image worked wonders on that background - like "butta"

I like the attitude and his half-shaded eye.

Really nice curve to the head/neck. The detail looks really good and the BG suits him well.
