This little guy was moving slowly up the leaf of one of my many calla lilies. The sun caught him just right by back-lighting the leaf. I blacked out the rest of the leaf to emphasize the subject and the soft curves in both flora and fauna.

Took me a few minutes to figure out what I was looking at here Lucy! I like the light coming through the leaf, and the idea of the snail shell and lines on the leaf mirroring each other. But the snail isn't really coming through enough for me here.

I really love the way you handled the leaf. That is just beautiful. If the snail could be just a bit clearer it would great.

I knew the snail looked fuzzy, and I couldn't get it sharper. I think what happened is that the back-lighting was so bright, that w/ his semi-transparency already....that he basically "ghosted out". Does this seem likely?

Is there a way to get him sharper w/o causing a lot of noise. Tried everything I had ..Topaz for noise, sharpening and jpeg cleanup...Imagenomic for basic noise. Plus regular PSE tools including playing with shadows to bring him out more. Anything better out there? Or is this the best I can do?

Appreciate your advice.

the curves and lines are great and I really like the back lighting. I find that with slow moving things like snails I take to shots, one of the leaf clear and the other of the snail and combine the
