Flicker

by Craig Strand

Gallery: AvianPosted October 10, 201088 views8 comments
This male Northern, red-shafted, Flicker captured at the local refuge.
Not as nice a specimen as Nate's, as in southern Washington we don't "plump-em up" with suet before we take their picture!

Larger version available.

canon 7D
canon 600mm f4.L
F/9.5 1/350 ISO 250
auto window beanbag rest

(you know I love your Flicker BEST Nate!)

Nice comp. and perch. The image seems a little bright, but not bad.

Very nice, Craig. You caught him on a great perch, and I really like the head turn. :toast:

It's a very nice head turn and I like the interesting perch Craig. I also think you did a good job with DOF at this angle to get the whole bird sharp. I would like to see a little more detail in the shadows of the perch.

Very nice. Good detail and exposure on the bird. I agree with Ron that some more detail in the back of the perch might help, but it would have been a very tough exposure.
