Mousing Coyote

Yellowstone Park. This time last year.

D3 ISO800 70-200/2.8 with 1.7tc. @340mm. f10 1/1600. Gitzo tripod with Wimberly head.

The roadway in Yellowstone was stopped because of a large herd of bison in a field. Everyone was out of their cars and watching them. I looked a little farther down and saw this coyote repeatedly jumping in the grasses. I never saw him catch anything, but I liked his intent look. I am usually an avian photographer.

Very nice capture of the action. I like the intense expression on the coyotes face. Thanks for sharing.

I love the pounching posture you have captured. The golden grasses go well with the coyotes coloring.

Angela, I like this a lot. Probably even more than most people, because I have a shot like this when all I had was a 300mm and of course wan't close enough for it to be very effective. Ever since I got the 500mm, I can't get within 1 mile of a Coyote. Go figure!
Great job of capturing the action in this one!

Great action pose. My only suggestion would be to try to offset the bright light a little by some selective (careful) brightening of the shadow portion of his face.

Good action shot! I like the colors also. I would take this over bison any day.

Great timing. I like the way his front paws are curled under.

I've seen this same playful manner on several coyotes. Nice shot!
