Egretta tricolor

Taken at Fort DeSoto's north beach, I was able to get a lot of images of this Tricolored Heron fishing at a very low tide.

D200, HH, laying in the sand & water at the shoreline, f7.1, 1/750, ISO 200, 80-400mm VR at 270mm, natural light. Cropped to 72% to remove an OOF woman in a horrid bright pink top on the right side of the frame.

As always, I sincerely appreciate your comments and critiques. Thank you for looking.

I'll be having company the next few days so I will be slow commenting.

Real nice, Mia. Your post made me laugh...wouldn't it be nice if we could remove all the "oof" people we meet in this journey? I like the intent look of the heron, the wave crashing in the bg and the sparkles in the front wave. Sharon

Great timing on this one, Mia. Love the way you have captured the heron inbetween the waves, like the pose too.

Very nice shot. Love the waves and the splash droplets in the air. Shame about the out of focus boat (I think its a boat, but its out of focus and hard to tell). Its not bright enough to really distract from the image but the image would be better without it. If only we could control everything around us...

Thanks for the comments thus far on this image.

Benjamin, what you thought to be a boat is actually a white cap from a wave and since it is a natural feature and gives a sense of place I like it there.

Your classic FL style shot Mia. Love the colors and the water drops in front of the bird. Great detail and sharpness on the bird as usual. I did not even notice the breaking wave in the BG until I read Ben's comments, so I guess it is a none factor for me.

The wave is fine by me, and I love the look you captured.

Nice Mia, I too cracked up when I read your description of the capture. I like the intense stare and the head tilt, and I think the waves add a bit tension to the scene. And, I'm awfully glad you removed the bright pink top from the frame!

Great pose Mia - Ilike the low perspective and the sense of depth added by the waves. The only thing missing is a flash of fluro pink.

cheers

I'm amazed how you produce outstanding image after image with your 80-400mm. Love that cockeye look you have capture & nicely framing the heron in between the two waves.

Interesting pose and I like how the bird is the trough. The bird is very sharp too.

Mia,
I love the light and the colors here. It seem to me that this heron is playing with the waves. Really nice. :toast:

Terrific look at this guy. I like the pose and the gaze of the bird, with catchlight. Nice little water droplets spraying up in front of him as wel. The OOF whitecap wave doesn't bother me in the least.

Beautiful detail, color and pose, Mia. I don't mind the wave.....although I wish it was a little more recognizable as a wave. I do miss seeing at least one foot though.... :toast:
