This is a small waterfall (maybe 6 feet) in Moran State Park on Orcas Island in the San Juans off the coast of Washington. The forest here was great - the first little hike I got to make in the pacific northwest. I like the comp here because of the diagonals, the sheen on the FG water, and the shade even though this was about mid-day.

Thanks for looking!

Interesting composition, David, I like how the trees frame the falls.

Lovely little waterfall and rainforest. The top half is what really draws my attention, and although you do have those strong diagonal lines linking the entire composition together, I find that the horizontal line caused by the little terrace in the creek creates a natural separation between the top and bottom halves. Not sure whether I'd like it more cropped, or if you just leave it be, but one thing's for sure and that's that I really like this photo either way.

Great shot. Not sure if I like the top half or bottom half better. I think it might make a stronger image if you cropped the bottom third out and focused more on the water (though I do like the detail on the beach).

Yes, the diagonals are just right here David. Love the serene mood it provokes. Keep 'em coming! Enjoy!

PS I just read the other's comments and I think you could have three different photos here whether you crop or not! I like them ALL!

It's very nice, David. Nice variety of elements with a focus on the water.

Wonderful rich colors. I'm for cropping out the bottom 3rd - just above (or under, can't decide) the broken horizontal log. A great image as is, but I think that would make it even better. Processing looks great by the way. :toast:

David,

I think this is quite good. Given the complexity of the environment, I think you did very well to include the foreground diagonal log. It echo's the diagonal of the fallen tree up top and I think together they both frame the falls very nicely. This is a well crafted and captured image. Nice work.
