High Island. Upper Texas Coast. May 2010.

D3 ISO 640 300/2.8 with 2x tc f8 1/1600 -0.7

3 Snowy Egrets in breeding plumage battle it out for the perch. The one entering the image chased off the one leaving , but the guy in the middle held his ground.

This is really nice. I like the interplay between the 3 egrets. Sometimes highlights in the background like the ones in this image distract me. In this image I think they work as they tend to look like repeating patterns of the birds. Nice capture.

Angela,

How great to get all this action plus get all three of the bird in focus! I like the composition you used and the different poses of the egrets a lot. The one suggestion I have is that the image seems a bit on the cool side and I might try to warm it up slightly, but that is minor.

Angela, I've been trying to get an image like this one for a while. Congratulations! Perfect exposure, and I know how difficult this can be with contrasty scene. Love the story behind the antics of these three. The large image shows the real quality of the image.

Super job getting such dynamic postures from all three birds, getting them sharp, well separated and clipping nothing Angela.
