Hi Howard,
This composition is very pleasing. My only nit would be DOF. I wish it were a little deeper to include the right antler.
Cool shot.

Nice White tail portrait. The color is great and the focus is spot on.

Great color and detail in the deer. Maybe just a little more room around the subject.

Excellent detail and a very nice head pose Howard. The clear eye with catch light also is a big plus. It is a bit tight as shown (when is canon finally releasing that 2kg 200-500 f/2.8? ), further I think a lower angle could have improved this as it would have created separation between the buck's head and back. DOF IMO is chosen well in a compromising situation.

Great photograph Howard. Excellant detail in the fur and nice and sharp. I would be very pleased to capture a high quality photo such as this. Well done. :toast:
How close to the deer were you to get this shot?

Colors are sweet and the detail is nice. I agree a touch more dof would be better. I like that I can see either your car or blind reflected in his eye! If you have the space, I think this would benefit with a little more room all around.

Yup...that's a good one. I like the DOF. The eye is the center of focus, the left antler is well focused. I think if the right antler is too focused it might draw away from the face. Nice job. Images like this are the payoff for your investment in the world's best lens.

This would really look nice on a cover of a magazine. The DOF issue is insignificant, it is so subtle that it should have never had even been mentioned. Slight tight fit but still a fantastic capture!
