Glennfinnan in Scotland

I find that this is a typical Scottish day - Heavy cloud and rain, Gusty winds and where the sun breaks through beautiful sunlight. We had everything this day. This is the Jacobite steam train crossing the Glennfinan Viaduct both of which were featured in the Harry Potter films.

I'm loving this shot Graham, the light hitting the foreground grasses and nearer hills looks terrific. The sky looks great with the light shafts. Catching the train crossing the viaduct finishes the image off beautifully. By the way, I was there last Tuesday. I didn't see the sun once. Constant drizzle.

Gary.

Gorgeous light and color, dramtic sky, and and misty mountains Graham! What more can you ask for? Beautiful landscape. Beautiful work!

What a wonderful light show. Capturing the steam from the engine puts the icing on an already beautiful scene. Congratulations!!

That would be the best of Scottish light though. The perfect light for the subject. Awesome shot!

Wonderful, dramatic light. What a photogenic bridge. There are a couple of odd dark splotches just above the right end of the bridge - are those clouds or the result of some burning?

Hi Jason, I haven't done any burning on this image. I see the areas you mean I think they are just areas not covered by the mist. Graham

If this is a typical day, you must have a lot of beautiful photos on your wall. The lighting is not something I see very often.

Graham,
I love the dramatic light you've captured here. I think the scene with the train and viaduct would be nice in almost any conditions but this is an exceptional capture.

This is an incredible shot. Just amazing. You have persuaded me that I must visit my ancestral homeland. Thanks for sharing this Graham. I may be interested in a print of this. How can I contact you?

Graham - this is absolutely fantastic! The lighting is exquisite and the timing perfect. I've done the railway journey a few times and hope to do it many more times. Sublime!
